Clouds and sun alternating, wind and even sleet - and yet around 60 committed participants gathered full of energy and drive - this is how our clean-up project on the Isar in Munich began on April 25, 2024.
TSV 1860 had organized a sustainable week at the end of April, which focused on a different topic in terms of sustainability every day. In lets, they had found just the right partner to address the issue of garbage and organise a clean-up on the Isar. Employees from Bayerische Versicherung and Pangeae Life, players and employees from TSV 1860 Munich as well as dedicated fans were there and made a significant contribution to our environment with their dedication and energy.
Our goal? “To illustrate the long-term effects of waste and to give everyone the opportunity to actively do something about the littering of our city. At the same time, everyone involved benefits from promoting employee engagement and volunteer work,” says Ludwig Petersen, founder of lets.
The group was divided into different teams in order to playfully compete against each other and remove waste from public areas along the Isar. With every piece of trash that has been picked up, the participants are sending a strong signal for nature conservation and the importance of our actions for a sustainable future.
The teams were able to free the area from tens of cigarette butts, bottle caps and other rubbish. Really unbelievable (sad) crowds came together, as can be seen in the photos here. This should wake us all up so that we can even more actively contribute to repacking the trash after a lovely afternoon of grilling, including cigarette butts and bottle caps. During the campaign, we came across several ducks, which always tried to eat the stubs, which can have serious consequences for the animals. Let alone the contamination of the water from a single cigarette butt. It is important to work together here!
The winning team with the most tips and corks was able to take part in a small TSV 1860 draw. There were tickets to win the same evening's home derby between TSV 1860 and Unterhaching.
Ludwig Petersen succeeded in making the day an unforgettable experience with playful education and his motivating manner.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all participants and partners for this great day full of teamwork and positive energy. Let us continue to do good together and protect our environment sustainably.
And if you too are in the mood for a clean up now, just contact us. We would be happy to discuss the options of lets in a short initial consultation.
